When going into shops, honor PPE requirements.  Ensure that you are wearing protective equipment when you go onto a site where they have PPE requirements.  This equipment must be worn to minimize exposure to serious workplace injuries and illnesses.  Some of the common forms of protection include:

Safety Tip of the Week - Week 4

How to properly sit at a computer to prevent back, neck, and knee pain:

  • Sit up tall. Adjust the seat height so that your feet are flat on the floor and your knees are slightly lower than your hips.
  • Sit close to your keyboard. Make sure the keyboard is centered with your body.
  • Adjust the keyboard height so that your keyboard is slightly higher than your elbows and your hands are slightly raised above the keyboard.
  • The monitor should be directly in front of you at eye level.

Take steps to prevent Computer Eye Strain:

  • Eliminate excessively bright light either from outdoor sunlight or from harsh interior lighting.
  • Use anti-glare screen on monitors.
  • Take regular breaks to allow eyes to relax.
  • Correct position of monitor. Monitor should be eye level and 20 – 26 inches from eyes.
  • Get a comprehensive eye exam.
